The Kenya Coast is a bird watching haven and hosts three Important Bird Areas.
The Arabuko-Sokoke Forest - a small surviving part of an indigenous coastal forest to which a visit can be arranged. The Sokoke Scops Owl, the Sokoke Pipit or Clarke’s Weaver are all peculiar to this forest. You could also hope to see the Elephant Shrew and the Bushy Tailed Mongoose.
Mida Creek is a beautiful inlet from the Indian Ocean which is home to large numbers of wading birds including the more elusive Greater Flamingos and Crab Plovers and has wonderful bird watching opportunities.
Sabaki River Mouth where the river with three names (Athi, Tana and finally the Sabaki) meets the Indian Ocean is an interesting place to visit and you are likely to see many different species here.
